Gunshots went off all across the pitch black sky. Lorisa froze in her tracks because she realized how little she knew, despite her feeling they were the dumb ones. She shot every Daptive she could, but there had to be hundreds.

"They're protecting the plants!" One of the agents shouted to Tex as he drove downward.

"Let them! It'll distract them from the party after the core of it." Tex barked.

"Manner!" Colbert shouted. Lorisa just realized he had been shouting her name multiple times, "Sorry, please stick with me!" Lorisa was quick to agree.

He led her to the window where they shot dozens of the foul monsters. One of them threw their sword into the aircraft with the intention of crushing it. Her partner grabbed the sword by the handle and strained until the black steel loosened itself from the metal. It still glowed in its purple aura.

"I know what to do! Here, Manner, please grab this." Colbert handed her his gun, "Shoot as many as you can. I'll handle anything you miss."

So said instructions became the plan. She had to vigorously adapt to the aim of these strange weapons and was rapidly shooting any shadow in the air until there was nothing left to shoot, thanks to the help of other trained professionals. Lorisa rested her arms for a moment from the excitement for a brief moment and let out a large sigh.

"See? You're doing great! I knew we wouldn't have to worry a thing- watch out!" Just in that second a Daptive which had been hiding by hanging on to the bottom of the helicopter jumped out, ready to kill.

Colbert slashed at the beast and it guarded with its sword. The steel of both weapons scrapped against each other when Colbert suddenly released the hold, knocking it off its feet and finishing the creature off. Slowly the Daptive shriveled up until it was nothing but dust.

"....My goodness." The girl was out of breath and out of her mind. This gentle soul has such a sharp bite and she was impressed, "Are you alright?"

"Y-yeah...I'm fine. Just a little on the edge, ya know?"

The fight did not end there, of course. There was more below, guarding the fields below.

"Alright! Good job everyone! We're going to send the blood testing a little surprise of our own by dusting the grass with this proactive radiation! As soon as we get to the fields, don't get found and don't get caught. The mission depends on it. Now go!" Agent Tex stopped giving orders the moment they hit the ground a hundred yards away from their destination. The agents paired off and turned on their invisibility gear to not get caught.

"Nauge, you are quite talented in this." Lorisa admitted as she turned on her gear.

"We can talk more after, but thank you." He blushed a little.

Colbert guided his partner through the dark woods not too far from the open fields. The moonlight was beaming down and it reminded Lorisa of her childhood when she would run off into the woods with Gloria...Oh how she missed home. Not to worry. She will soon wake up anyways, so just be in the moment.

They shot some Daptive with their guns and approached the corrupted farmland.

"What might we be doing...?" Lorisa asked in hesitance.

"We're stalling them."

"The Daptive?"

"I wish..." Colbert's grey eyes popped in the moon, "If you need anything, do not yell. More will detect us. Just trust me here."

As he spoke, the ground began to rumble. Something was underground. Something big. Colbert quickly took a rope and tied it on a harness and wrapped it around just below his ribs as the sounds of the deep earth creature got louder. Doing the same for Manner, they now were both fastened.

"There's something below us." Lorisa said in silent terror.

"The rope will keep us together. Just shoot in the eye if you see it- There!" The ground crumbled from underneath them and they fell into a deep hole.

She screamed until the air was knocked out of her from the rope catching them. She could hear Colbert grunt in pain. Luckily she still had her gun and it had a gentle glow when in the dark, so she could see just enough in the pitch black hole to aim. The sounds of the creature, almost like what she would imagine a centipede to have echoed from even deeper.

"Oh dear, are you alright? That was a startling fall." She whispered towards where she could see his gun.

"Yeah... I'm fine. Let's focus on the task at hand."

"And what might that be? We almost died."

"Kill him." His tone with filled with disappointment, and the kindness within him peaked out, despite his words.

"Oh my."
