Timeline Latency and Multiple Autosaves at once

Anytime I'm editing the timeline by working on an existing event or making a new one, there is a massive latency due to the auto save feature (I think). Typing in any field of the event (date, description) will trigger autosave notification to appear more than once (between 5-10 times in a row). It doesn't matter how fast or slow I type. Deletion also takes 3-5 seconds of response time per character deleted for the UI to actually show the change. @tagging other articles in the description also hits a huge latency spike loading the article selection UI and sometimes still fails to properly change the @ to an article link once one is selected.

It appears to be an issue where the timeline is autosaving every single character typed or something, causing a huge delay or sometimes a tab crash. Despite all the autosaves, work I've typed also is often lost anyway as the saves appear to rollback data entry.

Steps to Reproduce

Have tested in Firefox (Troubleshoot mode) with no plugins and on Chrome, no plugins.

  1. Navigate to timeline
  2. Click EDIT in the ribbon
  3. Click any event entry to bring up the editing panel
  4. Begin typing in any field: date, description, tags, full content, it doesn't matter
  5. Autosave notification appears multiple times at the top of the page causing slowdown
  6. Reload the page 10 seconds after autosave and event won't even have saved
  7. Side panel where edits occur sometimes shows correct, changed data while the event on the timeline does not actually update as if the editing panel and the timeline UI are out of sync.
