This generic device has many settings upon it. Before firing, you may describe your choice of color, sound, and smell to be used in the blast. Once you prepare to fire, you may fire the blaster in a variety of ways:

a 30-foot radius sphere centered on one point within 150 feet
a 60-foot cone originating from you in any direction of your choice
a 150-foot long, 5-foot wide line originating from you in any direction of your choice
a 100-foot long, 10-foot wide line originating from you in any direction of your choice

Any creature caught within the blast of the device must make a DEX saving throw. Upon a failure, they take 8d8 force damage and are knocked away 10 feet in the appropriate direction (DM's discretion). On a successful save, they take half as much damage and are not knocked back. Due to the mundane nature of this blaster, it does not require concentration, despite having a duration of 1 minute. During any successive turns during the duration of the effect, you may use an action to create a new blast.

At higher levels: When supercharged for each gadget level above seventh, you may add 1d8 damage.
